Gmail Sponsored Promotions are ads are a specific type of Display network ad that lives and breathes within your prospects Gmail inbox.
There are two parts to the GSP ad:
1) A collapsed ad that gives a quick glimpse of what your ad is about that lives at the top of your prospects reading window inside Gmail.
2) An expanded ad that takes up more real estate space once clicked on.
Here’s what they look like when you create them inside AdWords:
This is a text and image ad hybrid
The great thing about GSP ads is that many people think they are like regular Display ads, but I disagree (and that’s part of the tactics we’ll talk about later).
The reason why GSP ads are so great, is that if you target correctly, you’re hitting people with a stronger intent to convert compared to regular Display ads because they’re either getting emails from your competitors or they’re reading emails around the keywords you want to target.
More importantly, GSP ads need attention, and your prospects are paying attention when they’re in Gmail.
